TLDR: The battle mechanics have changed. You might need to adjust your strategy. What worked before might not work anymore. Good luck!

Kani World is an evolving NFT game built on the Algorand network. The game is playable now, with development continuing to balance and enhance existing elements and develop new content for players. The game will have two tokens, Kani Coin and Kani Miso. The first Kani Coin is the primary token players can earn by holding Kani NFTs and playing the game. The latter, Kani Miso, will be implemented later as a deflationary mechanism for Kani NFTs. Each token will have a different way to earn the token and separate utility.
Kani Coin – Tokenomics
ASA: 638594993
Total mint 10,000,000
- Rewards: 80%
- Treasury: 15%
- Dev: 5%
Rewards:
Players will have numerous ways to earn rewards by actively playing the game and by passively holding NFTs. Reward rates may change as the game evolves and new gameplay elements become available. The current plan is to distribute the reward tokens in the following manner.
- Kani Staking: 5 tokens/Kani/week.
- Item embeds: 3 – 10 tokens per item embed/week
- Kani Rumble: 10 tokens/event to the winner. Three to five events per week.
- Raid Events: 3 tokens/attacker/event. Three to five events per week.
- Kani Generating Event Winners: 25 tokens/winner.
- PVP Tournaments: Scaling rewards to top 10 players.
- 30 tokens to the top player
- 25 tokens to places 2 and 3
- 20 tokens to 4th to 6th
- 15 tokens to 7th to 10th
- Other competitions and collaborations
All tokens will be distributed weekly after the staking snapshot. Players will track their weekly gameplay balance via an in-game command.
The values shown above are accurate at the time of creating this document and might be changed in the future.
Uses:
The primary use of the token will be to create item NFTs that can be used in the game. There will be a limited supply of items, and the cost of items will increase over time.
Additional uses:
Kani Auctions:
When there is an excess supply of Kani, Kani token auctions allow players to purchase Kani using the Kani tokens.
Draft Pick Auction:
Depending on the number of new Kani produced, players can use their Kani coins to secure the first pick of a new generation of Kani. The draft pick will exclude Kani allocated to the community prize pool or the KGE winners. The player will still be required to purchase the Kani at the mint price.
Kani Council:
Holding Kani Coins will allow players to vote on elements of the game. Votes will cover various aspects of the KGE, such as the number of offspring produced, rate of mutants, the appearance of Kani, etc. Kani council members will also vote on future game developments, including collaborations and new game elements.
Reroll:
Players can use their Kani coins to reroll specific attributes of their Kani. For example, reroll their Kani’s special move or a group of base stats.
Kani Miso – Tokenomics
Total mint: 5,000,000
- Rewards: 50%
- Treasury: 30%
- Dev team: 20%
Miso will be a limited use premium resource. The purpose of a more extensive treasury with the miso token is to fund future game development. The dev team has a higher percentage of Kani Miso tokens to ensure the project’s long-term success. This distribution plan is accurate at the time of writing but can change in the future.
Rewards:
There will be two main ways to gain the Kani Miso token:
- Sacrifice a Kani
- Kani Deathmatch
The value earned from the Kani sacrifice and deathmatch will be variable. As more Kani are burned, the amount of Kani miso will decrease. Players will receive less miso through sacrifice than they could through deathmatch.
Deathmatch will involve two players submitting their Kani to a duel to the death. The losing Kani is burned, and the player receives less miso than they would have if they had sacrificed. The winner will return to its owner with the miso tokens greater than the amount they would have received through sacrifice.
Uses
The use of miso is to embed items into a Kani’s shell. Embedding an item will provide additional stat boosts and increase the staking yield of the Kani.
The values shown above are accurate at the time of creating this document and might be changed in the future.

Please note that the Kani Token, Kani Miso, and NFTs related to the game are intended as in game currencies and items and should not be considered an investment.
December 2021
This post aims to provide an update on further developments that have occurred. It has been about six weeks since the previous update, and what a crazy six weeks that has been. The game has rapidly developed in that time and looks nothing like it did six weeks ago.
The Community:
I want to send out a huge thanks to the early adopters who have preserved through gameplay issues and provided valuable feedback along the way. Your interest in the game fuels the fire to make something enjoyable and worthwhile.
The Kani:
About four weeks ago, I changed the application I was using to create the Kani; this required learning a new application and recreating the original artwork. Hopefully, the change is for the better and allows for more creative Kani/artwork in the future.
Kani Generating Event:
The Kani Generating Event has continued every week, with the past few events dominated by active community members. The game has matured to a point where simply owning a Kani is unlikely to be sufficient to become King Kani. The competition is too intense. In KGE 6, the first two mutated Kani appeared. Mutated Kani have either a positive or a negative mutation which affects their appearance and attributes. These Kani also have a higher chance of generating mutated Kani. The mutated appearance will pass onto the next generation, but the attribute effect will not.
Discord:
It’s hard to believe that I was planning discord integration six weeks ago. Now the current version of the game is fully integrated into discord. The following elements are available to players on discord:
- Verification – Checks wallet for Kani assets and opens the gaming channels if a wallet contains a Kani.
- Basic Economy – The current game revolves around a player’s Kani collecting “scum”. Players can roll for scum every 10 hours and send their Kani out to explore and collect scum by itself in the meantime, with optimal rewards being around 8-12 hours of exploring. Once the players have collected enough scum, the player can use the scum to purchase a temporary buff. The buffs improve 1 of the four main attributes of the Kani until the end of the next Kani Generating Event. Afte the KGE, all attributes are reset to their original values.
- Roles/Names – Players can assign specific roles to their Kani (main, defender, alt). The roles help players with multiple Kani select the Kani they want to use for particular commands. Players can assign a new name to their Kani, making them easier to notice in the KGE and adding a nice personal touch. A critical point for new players is that all Kani start without a role and need a role before exploring.
- My Kani – Players can show off their Kani to other players on the server and track the role and status of their Kani. This addition became apparent as players started collecting more than 1 Kani.
- PVE – I have started implementing server-wide PVE battles (raids) in the past three weeks. The players must all work together to defeat the enemy as quickly as possible. If the battle goes on too long, the enemy will strike the Kani, decreasing all Kani’s attributes slightly until the next KGE reset.
- PVP – From the next KGE reset, PVP will go live. There will be 2 PVP elements, player attack and explore encounter.
- In the player attack element, players will be able to launch an attack on a specific player in an attempt to take some of their scum. If the challenged player has a Kani home (not exploring), their Kani will battle the attacker to defend the scum stash. If the challenged player has no Kani at home, the challenger will have a free shot at some of the challenged players’ scum pile.
- In the explore encounter, Kani that are out exploring will randomly run into each other. The situation will either resolve peacefully or in a battle. The winning Kani will take some of the scum the losing Kani had collected when resulting in a battle.
Current Issues:
- My Kani image displays sometimes and not other times.
- Lack of documentation for new players
- Assigning a role and learning the optimal routine is confusing
Upcoming Updates:
- Kani Rumble – Royal Rumble for Kani, any Kani can enter, only 1 survives. Players will be required to pay an entrance fee in scum. The Kani Rumble winner will win the prize pool collected from entrance fees.
- Explore PVE – Like the explore PVP, the Kani that are out exploring will randomly encounter PVE monsters. The monsters will have varying difficulties and rewards.
Finally, I would like to thank the community for being a part of my passion project. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two months or so of development. I am looking forward to sharing the developments that the next few months bring.
